I wrote this song in the spring of 2020.

It wasn't released until the fall of 2021.

This is the first time in my life where I've thought "I hope this song isn't relevant by the time it comes out".

He got himself an ottoman,

A spot to to put his feet upon,

I don't think he lost it,

but he's gotten used to be alone,

A "king" could never get a queen,

Unless he's blessed to reach the thrown,

Took a long breath, expanded chest,

and left his speakers blown.


I think I need you, some might leave you when those people grow,

some folks don't have the time,

not even time to speak in phone,

they say they want to meet you,

those cats that try to reach you,

and deceive you,

but to each their own.


I've been feeling ill, I will,

get so excited when we,

can get our fill but still this country's so divided, I bet

with a little bit of sweat we'll stay alive,

but we're dealing with loss of breath, death, debt,

and coronavirus, I know

follow the leader, I won't,

walk to the river, I float,

not real cathartic, I'm starting to feel my heart in my throat,

let's take a walk with my ghosts,

I try and talk and I choke,

I see your eyes, and I realize that you were my life boat.

Why do people die so much?

I got a call from my sister,

I want to tell her I miss her, I love her

And I'd ask her...

Fuck, why is life so rough?

But she's going through her own shit,

I wish I was that strong, but I know I'm not alone,

I think they lied to us,

My only friend, It is this J,

There's too much on these dinner plates,

It's screwed up and it's so insane...

All my havens and arrangements watch them all disintegrate.
